That Merc is damn clean - throw a mild drop on it and some E55 AMG wheels and she will be legit. - I'm with Tecn1k on that I lust after a clean, no TLC needed E39 Msport or M5 but fucking Jalopnik ruined them for me - If I had F'off money I'd just get one of the clean examples from Enthusiast Auto Group - yes I know they are all expensive but they stock CLEAN vehicles -

Yeah, I look at Enthusiast Auto Groups online inventory every week and drool on my keyboard. Little know fact on the E39 M5, it hold the coast to coast record for fastest crossing of the US.

The drop and 19" wheels will be done within the first few weeks I get it to TX. If I can find an AMG brake kit at a good price, that will be done to make the "19s look right (minimum rotor/caliper to wheel gap).

You should frequent M5Board classified section too. There're some good ones and some great ones before EAG gets their hand on.

Been watching the M5Board too.

Almost NO one owner/low mileage/unmodified/no work needed/never hit/full history/no snow vehicles. These are the vehicles EAG deals with (best of the best).

I picked up a 2003 E39 540i M Sport 6 speed not to long ago after months of searching. It is damn hard to find one that is not a basket case. I love driving a stick V8, its so much more interesting. Slapped a Dynavin in it and did a few maintenance items and boom down the road I go. It may be getting sold in 18 months. The only reason it will go is to make room for a 2015 M3.

Told her she needs to go with this, so I can scoop it up in around 10 years. I don't think she agrees!

I usually dont like the E class that much. But I can tell you, when I ride in my friend's E63 AMG, I forget all about it.
And yes, my brother was in the market for a well cared for E39 M5, and gave up.

For the prices they demand for a well cared for 2001, might as well pick up a 2008 E63 AMG which he will do eventually.

Last year, a low mile Dinan S3 sold in our area for over 60.000$ . That guy must have been nuts.

The prices on super clean, low miles/unmolested E39 M5s/Msports with 3 pedals are INSANE!!!

I'm trying to convince my Mom the 2016 GT-S is a true McLaren SLR (minus the bespoke engine & gullwing doors) for less then 1/2 the price (and .3 sec quicker to 60mph then the SLR AMG Black Series, 3.0 secs). The new GT-S is an expensive car that's a STEAL at MSRP (people were paying way over $300,000 for the SLR AMG a few years ago!).
