I have searched and read all about parasitic drains. My X5 if left sitting for a week, might or might not start. The battery and alternator were good, so I started looking for a drain. After a lot of troubleshooting, I narrowed the drain down to fuse #61 in the fuse box. This was "main fan", so I immediately jumped on the FSR. I replace this about 2 years ago due to loosing fan speeds, but I thought it was bad again. Ordered a new resistor and did a resistance check against the old one and there was no difference. With the resistor completely unplugged, I was still getting about .30 amp draw across fuse #61. There are a lot of people on here that think the "main fan" is the "blower fan" including myself. Fuse #61 has absolutely nothing to do with the FSR or blower fan. This fuse goes to the Auxiliary COOLING fan in front of the radiator. The connector for the fan is located on the left side of the radiator, so I unplugged it and the draw on fuse #61 went to "0". The problem might be the slow speed fan resistor located under the Aux fan, but in order to get to it, I have to get to the point of removing the fan anyway, so I have order a new fan with resistor and when I get the old one out, I will let you know where the problem was.
