Exclamation 2006 x5 stereo no audio.

1st post!

Non DSP standard MID setup with CD.

Engine oil was at some time stored in the compartment in the left rear (directly above the amp). And some of that oil made it's way onto the connector for the amplifier.

I cleaned the amp connector pin by pin, & cleaned with alcohol soak.

Still no audio. I do hear a very faint pop when I turn on the radio that makes me think the amp is turning on. I checked power, ground, remote turn on are all OK.

The MID does not have analog outputs. But the amp has analog inputs. What component makes that conversion? Where is it located? I think that may be faulty. I do have an o-scope so I will verify analog input signal is reaching the amp.

Thanks.

The MID is just a display, it is not the radio. The radio is located in the trunk next to the spare tire.

tarnationsauce2, do you get any sound coming out from any of the speakers? Even if it's faint...?

I had the common issue of losing sound from one side of the car (left side in my case). This was due to blown channels in the radio amp (BM54 or 53, depending on car). I sent the amp to a specialist that repaired the channels by upgrading with newer and stronger ones...it did the trick.

All right another Oregonian! Don't worry about the radio, you'll get that fixed soon enough. Check this out ...http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...53-owners.html

On a serious note I haven't really worked on the stock stereos but, I'm pretty sure there are some tests and some diagnostics available with in my software. That being said, I have software and could try if you want. It might point you in the right direction. Or we could just code your X and forget about the stereo. I'm in Oregon City and love to tinker.

my 2006 X5 radio stopped working. Took apart the amp, and this is what it looked like inside... I replaced it with a MusiCar level 1 kit.
