On the X5 putting on the 4.6is/4.8is brake system is a common upgrade with no repercussions. The F80 is probably a unique case. Can you provide the link to the discussion of the F80 problem for further evaluation?

Here you go: M Carbon Ceramic Brakes - Serious Wheel Clearance Issue (rocks / stones)

Note that the problem is most often reported with the carbon ceramic brakes and 19 in wheels (18s don't fit over the brakes), which is an expensive factory option. But it also is reported with aftermarket wheels (winters in particular) and the steel brakes.

Thanks interesting read and awfully expensive for those M3 customers with the Ceramic Carbon Brakes.

Same, only on page 5 though and will read the rest as I can. Good to know though for anyone looking to upgrade brakes... must have >5mm clearance minimum.
