She's gone

Hey guys,

it was a nice time with you !!!!!!!!!!!
It costed me an arm and a leg from a financial standpoint.
I hate the guy who will pickup MY X5 next saturday ..... ;-)

To be honest. I am happy to sell her and I have to admit:

All "standard" problems you can read about here in this forum that could happen to your X5 with "your" manufacturing date will happen - at least they all happened to me.

Your gearbox in a 2002 X5 will break. Believe me. Mine broke twice - second breakdown was "for free" which means you pay "only" EUR 400.- something, not even 10% of the prize of the first change of the gearbox - half a year later.

In summary: a GREAT car, loved to drive it and will in the future have one of the shitty normal ones, FIAT something - not really worth to ask for details. But 14 liters of Diesel in 100km is also something I also need to get rid of.

Good luck everybody. Enjoy your X !!!!!!!!!!

All the best

Helmuth

Wow! 14L per 100Km is 16.8 MPG, unreal for a diesel! Is that a hwy or city figure?

My 8cyl gas X can get 23 mpg hwy.

Second X owner this week that posted about getting rid of the X. Hopefully my X will last another year without any major repairs needed, so that I can move on to a PORSCHE Cayenne Turbo next year.

Blown turbo(s)??? I just made a 750km trip in my 3.0d and got 6.8l/100km (34.6mpg US or 41.5mpg UK).

I'd have gotten rid of it too!

Good luck my friend.Enjoyed our chats and thanks for your contribution and shares.
Wow!14ltrs/100!Thats V8 territory!Something a miss there!Possibily auto box hanging on to gears too long!Normally ,you would expect 10 to 11ltrs/100 around town and 8 to 9 ltrs/100 motorway!
I can understand your frustration with all that has gone wrong with the X5 as most of us know from experience!I am lucky so far ,since I dont do a lot mileage but there are problems waiting to happen!
With regards to the auto box,Bmw (at my dealer work)have had for a long time ,updated software which deliberately reduces torque at low and load values to delay the box from breaking!Still ,only a short term solution

All the best to you ,my friend
Fernando
