New diamond key cost - surprise! (Uk)

Having replaced the battery in my diamond key and getting it working again a few weeks ago, it has died again.

Gave the cheap method a go, but now I want to get a new one.

Phoned a well known uk key company (we don't have autozone in the uk!) and they quoted me £180 and a four day Turnround time.

Just for a laugh I phoned my local BMW main dealer - they only want £139 and promise a 48hr Turnround!!

OEM it is then

I'm glad you called around. Same is true here. Some of the dealers that sell online here offer them at a discount (about $130) if you send in your ID and registration.

I would just call or ask the local BMW parts dept personnel...where do they new keys ship from when ordered. There would be no reason NOT to tell you.

They probably come from New Jersey (the BMW NA headquarters) or some other regional BMW center.

Is that £139 plus VAT? I got a genuine BMW from an indie Lakeside for about £120 I think.

Inc vat. Ordered at 3pm today, should be able to pick it up tomorrow...

Yes, could probably have got it a little cheaper, but when an aftermarket key was quoted at £180 I thought I may as well just get the (cheaper) pukka BM key.

Oh, that's good then, probably same as mine - mine may have been plus VAT. I was in the same situation, I figured it would last years so bought the proper item from BMW.
