I am assuming this is just a resistor. The further you measure along the top grey strip (with the black) the more the resistance should change. Mine just reads zero resistance. There has got to be a way of fixing that grey strip rather than replace the whole fuel pump assembly!
Would it be possible to buy another left side sender assembly (without the fuel pump) take the resistor off of that and put it on the right side? This would a huge savings compared to buying a whole right side replacement assembly. My only question to this idea working is if the left side puts out a different resistance value compared to the right side. anything available at your local wrecker?? If I recall, there are a few up carmi hill, might have to head to Kelowna??especially if you tell them you don't need the pump part! failing that, maybe one from a different series bmw might work too, after all, its just measuring resistance! (looks like your original is pretty worn out!)
I spend most of my summers up there so I am quite familiar with the area! you sir, live in Gods country!! my Father in Law, used to work at the NAPA garage on main st.

Yup, born and raised in Penticton. Tried moving other places and always came back.
The wreckers here arent so good. One of the big ones up Carmi (A1 Salvage) has closed up. I would really like to replace with new so I dont have to worry about another one wearing out. It just seems crazy to pay $400 CAD for such a small thing. |

Wow, your parts are as white as new, most OE ones I've seen are a bit yellowed by now. It may have been replaced already at some point.
Have you checked for continuity with a meter? The board looks to be fine physically, all the ones I've replaced were broken in half for some reason.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Yeah test the board and couldn't get any kind of resistance reading. 0 ohms no matter what position. I thought this was strange. Somehow the circuit is passing the resistor

Hmmm. The board doesnt even look all that worn from here.
Did you check impedance directly on the board or at the harness? If at the harness, maybe there is a problem with the wires from the board to the harness plug?

Has this been fixed?
My 2009 XDrive30 only shows just above half tank when full of gasoline. I'm wondering if this OEM Fleabay kit would fix this issue (assuming installing one on each side)? 2007 2008 2009 2010 BMW E70 X5 X6 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR KIT OEM 16117212632 A0020 | eBay |
