Eonon GA1556X installation

Hello gents,

I finally got around to installing the new EONON GA5166X on my DSP equipped car. It went so easy that I'm actually worried....that never happens! I do have a question though and hope someone can help: I never connected the CAN BUS box as I couldn't figure out where it goes so I skipped it, connected the antennas, wifi and GPS, started it up and immediate success even the steering wheel buttons worked

From reading on EONON's website, here and other sites, they all say you need the CAN BUS box to get the steering wheel function so why did this work for me??? Admittedly, I can Only control volume through the steering (when playing music via BT) and when I press the skip buttons I see the dashboard skipping radio channels and not songs....however, googling about this I see that you can tell the Unit what the steering wheel buttons should do and just need to be programmed accordingly. I'll try that soon and see if it helps.

If you guys can advise me on if and where I should connect the CAN BUS box I would really appreciate it.

Cheers

My can bus box is under radio or above climate control! On dash board it will be like that...when u press next button u will see radio skiping...it is when u r listening music not radio...with radio I think it works..actually never paid my attention on dashboard during changing radio channels!
When I am listening music and changing songs dashboard shows the same program but like it is changing to new but actually it is the same...if u catch what I am saying

Hey gatojurko, are you saying that you have the same problem as me even though your CAN BUS is connected? The thing is I think it is just a settings things that needs to be done via the NAV but I could be wrong and the fact that I couldn't connect the CAN BUS even if I wanted (maybe got the wrong harness..). If you or anyone on here have a picture of the can bus connected then please do share

My can bus works! Sorry about my english... I wanted to say u..that can bus works differently if u r listening the music or radio! For radio it works! I can change channels on steering wheels! When I am listening music ( not radio) and pressing next song button on dashboard it shows like I am changing radio channels but it stays on the same channel on dashboard but it is like reseting that same channel on dashboard! But next song button works! Hope u understand what I am saying!

haha man I'm lost...no disrespect. What car do you have, does it have DSP, original NAV option, connector type?

I don't think it should be the way you describe it, the CAN BUS is supposed to show your choice on the dashboard, music or radio it should show....like the original setup...no? The difference between your system and mine (i think) is the fact that I can't change songs period (using the steering wheel) while you can...but both of us are getting the "wrong" message on dash considering we are changing songs and not radio channels.

Ok, i figured out how to connect the can bus and now i can skip songs also. However, display still shows radio channels when skipping. It's ok, I'll live with that for now.

The next issue I got today is the rear view camera, it works fine when in reverse and engine off but as soon as i start the car the screen goes black. Any ideas?
