That might not even be a hole. Pull it out and see if air comes out. Yes, you can deff patch that, and I would just plug it. I haven't had a plug failure in ever, and the X doesn't got 150mph too often.

It only take one time for a blowout at 150 mph to turn you day into a really bad day. My tire guy marks the tire where the valve stem is, demount the tire and put a patch from the inside. Patch is good for 150 run because the centrifugal force at 150 mph is pushing the patch against the tire instead of trying to pop a plug out.

IMHO, that's too close to the sidewall for my comfort of patching. Most tire stores won't even do it (for liability reasons) if the puncture is less than 1" from the sidewall. As "SlickGT1" indicated, it may not even be a puncture...so try to pull it out before driving more on it.

High speed tire failures post repair are primarily due to carcass/belt damage caused by puncture, not plug/patch failure.
The undamaged steel/nylon/rayon strands in close proximity to the broken strands are subjected to increased stress and fail in domino style. Broken strands near carcass edges are BAD NEWS for high speed integrity. General rule of thumb, a punctured tire should NEVER be operated above speeds 2 rating below speed rating new. Most respectable tire shops grind the speed rating letter off the sidewall to show the tire is patched/plugged. Makes it a good idea to install high speed rubber on your vehicles (I run "Y" rated rubber (+186mph) on my X.

That's a question for the tire store, but I see no reason you cannot plug/patch that. It appears to be far enough from the edge of the tire, and the tread is certainly of sufficient depth to support a repair.
