My 2005 4.4 needs tires. Any suggestions?

All season not good using all year... not for winter not for summer...
For 19" 255 and 285 in the winter if there is ice and snow all four should be same size 255 otherwise it is get more chance to start swimming
We are changing all tires twice in a year

I have these on all my SUV's.....best tire ever. I had all other makes with no comparison to these. The truck will ride much smother, handle and turn better. These are better by a long shot...research them.

Were in California and generally don't change tires twice a year. Snow is nearby but it's a big state and running into weather
of various kinds is a possibility. So all seasons it is. We narrowed it down between the Michelin - Latitude Tour HP 109V and the Michelin - Premier LTX 109V

Obviously with tires there are always tradeoffs. Most of the time better handling = less treadwear. In my experience, any significant difference either way results in the other side of the equation getting much worse. More often than not, tires that deliver the best handling are not very good in the wet. If you want much improvement in handling I suggest addressing that independently with suspension upgrades or increase the footprint and rim width.

I agree. However I went from Michelins to Conti Contacts and noticed the difference
In handling right away. I'm just going back to the way it was before. I read many comments
from others regarding the difference in ride and steering with Conti's
and the comments went along with my thoughts.

I have some Latitude Tour HP tires and love them. They ride nicely and have worn well. I think I will get the rated 55- 60k out of them.

I wish they still made them in the 19" size.

Bridgestone Dueler Sports. I love them and I have them in the 18" size on my X. My 19's are waiting for these to wear out and then I'll get all seasons for them. Hoping Bridgestone has Dueler Sports in our sizes by then.

I've driven these in desert heat, a sudden snow squall going over a pass in Utah (other SUVs were in the ditch or, in one case, upside down in the median...<sigh>). We motored on with no drama at all (at an appropriate speed, of course, we're not complete idiots). In the wet you have to do super stupid things to get them to break loose, even on slick Vegas pavement after the first rainstorm in late summer (when the roads are at their slickest).

Putting all season tires on the ultimate driving machine is like putting tennis shoe on a football player. Granted he can wear the sneakers to the game but then what else are they good for?

I have two other vehicles that are on sticky tires if I need g-forces added to my diet. The X5 is a vehicle, not a sports car for me.

Rockit -- thanks for the Pirelli recommendation. I'll have to look into those once my duelers wear out. I'd like to run the 19" wheels instead of the 18" ones I'm running now... I like the looks of the sport package wheels better.
