Is all the individual parts included in the frame?

Hi all! I am going to replace the whole panoramic sunroof frame. I checked in BMW ETK and found the part number of the sunroof frame is 54137184905 (no. 1 in the first pic). Just wonder if all the individual moving parts are included in the sunroof frame with this part number? I can just swap the floating headliners, 2 motors and 2 pieces of glass onto the new frame and that's it, right? I don't need to separately order cover plates (54137118853, no. 2 in the first pic), mechanism for headliners (54107227894, no. 9 in the second pic), mechanism for front (54137118849, no. 6 in the second pic) and rear (54107227894, no. 7 in the second pic) glasses separately, do I? Thanks for help!

My friend ordered the moving parts for that frame, the dealer didn't say they come together. Be aware that this will be the most complex "puzzle" work you'll probably do on the X.

The way they are listed in the diagram, it looks like the frame is just the frame.

From what I've seen with other parts groups, if it comes as an assembly it usually is shown in the diagram and list as being enclosed in brackets.

But it looks like all your parts can just be transfered over to a new frame anyway?

I just found some picture on the internet that show the sunroof frame, it looks that all the individual moving mechanism are included in the frame, just the glass and headliner are not included. You guys have any ideas? However, what the pictures show is the sunroof frame for E70 X5 with part number 54107198763, but I think that the frame for E53 facelift version is almost identical to this one.

Number one includes everything, all moving parts, two motors, rails, guides, glass mounts, etc. except the headliner. It even includes the bolts. All you need is your existing sunroof module, glass, and install.

The part database's diagrams uses "brackets" when multiple parts are "included" in a part nbr.

For instance...in the diagram with the frame in it...#1 is only #1...it does not include #2 - #20.

But...if a nbr is attached to other nbrs with a bracket...then it means that all the parts numbered in the illustration can be purchased separately...or all together using the # that heads the bracket. For example...item #2 in the diagram includes (2/6/7/15/16)...but if you only need 6...you could order it separately as well.

Then...sometimes there may be some really small part that is included and that will have an "info" tab (like #10 in the part nbr index & diagram...see link below) that will give details as to other parts that come with it:

When a diagram has a line drawn all the way around it...then it means everything in that diagram comes with the part nbr it is linked to. for example, in the diagram below...everything inside the square (#1) comes with #1 (#1-#6)...but each of those items can also be purchased separately. Items #7 (the airbag) is sold separtely from the wheel:

Q. This is normally correct. But BMW's parts division isn't the most consistent. I ordered the pano sunroof cassette pictured as #1, and it came with everything pictured, except: 3, 4, 9, 10, 12, and possibly 20. Motors were preinstalled, all of #2, and all fasteners. The only thing I had to swap was the headliner and its components.

There is a special tool required for aligning the cassette to the body which i didn't use, and wish I would have. I would recommend either sourcing it, or doing a test fit with the glass before cinching everything down, or you could have some alignment issues.

But the best thing to do is call or drop by your local BMW dealership's parts department and give them the frame's part nbr (#1) and ask them is it just the frame or does it include any of the other parts in the diagram.

They have better access to BMW's ETK (actual) part database...and can pull up ASAP (after sales assistance portal) data...which goes into more detail.

You read my mind and posted as I was typing up an addendum to my original post...and that was to check with BMW because sometimes things aren't as they appear in the database...and their access to the system can give more details.

I do stand corrected.
