Or ... counterpoint ... guy holding the handle, pumping gas, trying to light his Marlboro with just his free hand, then a nearby car backfires and he reflexively pivots around to see it, spraying gas everywhere. This is similar to the freak gasoline fight accident that was in that documentary on male models, Zoolander, I think it was.

If safety is the concern, I'll bet on an automated system before a random person, in almost every situation. Maybe even self-driving cars in a little while.

Hopefully Darwin's Theory of the survival of the fitness would have kicked in long before he reach the age where he is driving a car.
