Leash for the Gas Cap

I'm searching for the rubber leash that attaches the gas cap to the filler closet while refueling. The best I can come up with is Item 20 or 21, but the description is not accurate and the picture is not right either.

I don't think the tether is seperate. Mine broke off and I believe I looked as well. Just ended up buying a new cap

I remember back in the good old days when gas caps didn't have tethers. Have we become so stupid that we can't remember where we placed the gas cap when we go to fill up the car?

When I bought my X5 I also thought about replacing that tether after a couple times of having to put the cap on the ground until I realized the cylindrical part on the bottom of the cap sits right in the hole part on the gas door while I'm filling up. No need to put it on the ground or for the tether.

I prefer tethers, a gas cap rest on the filler door, or both. I don't consider myself stupid.

I think it's a personal preference type of thing.

I think it is a good solution to the thousands of "left behind" caps sitting at gas stations all over the U.S. And yes you are correct, the traveling general public would have stains on roofs, deck lids, and in their pockets if there were no tethers to slap the cap on the side after a fill up. I see one of these going down the highway once on every road trip.
