Repaired, new pin, soldered - same damn issue

Found a radio shack to solder a connection, but they didn't have a small enough diameter pin - went to the tattoo shop next door, got a needle! Was so happy, was sure it was gonna work.. nope..

I'm at the end of my rope! I have read so much information my eyes are gonna bleed.. it's either a fried TCM, or external (to the tranny) wiring. Anyone know a shop in the Phoenix area that would be helpful? Any ideas would be graciously received...

If your E53 transmission wiring is the same as the Range Rover (and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be) then pin 32 on connector C1835 isn’t used. There should be no corresponding wire in the ECU plug.

You need to do a continuity check on the harness wiring from the ECU connector to the 16-pin connector at the transmission.

it's PIN 2 - not 32

According to your schematic, it is the "screen for turbine speed sensor"

So if that is the case, could this be causing my 'EGS05 - EGS pressure actuator EDS 5 error?

I think the diagram shows the front of the female connector, and so your missing pin is pin #9... ?

*edit* nope - I'm wrong - see below.

checking EPRSx pin outs

So to ohm test from the female plug - for each EPRS1-5, would I test from each of those connector sockets, and the power supply, PIN 12? If I'm wrong please let me know what to do.

The ECU pins are numbered this way round :

So for EDS 5 you need to check continuity between

1) pin 6 at the ECU end and pin 15 at the transmission end
2) pin 11 at the ECU end and pin 12 at the transmission end

Phil

P.S. Sorry about all the different terminologies for the solenoids, which depends on whether you’re using the original German acronyms (EDS/MV) or the English equivalents (EPRS/SV). I'm afraid I'm not very consistent.

Thanks for the info Phil - the latest pin outs you sent are different from the previous one you sent, I just was following the first diagram, and got nothing - I'll try again from the new one, and see how I make out. thank you.

So I bought a used TCM today from a wrecker, it looks in good shape - how the heck do I code it with SSS Progman? It wants the part number of the new/old units, but no matter what I enter, it wont' work! It's not the VIN, tried that, it only accepts numbers. I tried the part number on the left sticker, and right sticker - but 7 digits, neither was accepted..

Good news, got my new TCM coded up, flashed with SSS Progman, and MY PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. Very appreciative of the input received from everyone, thank you.
