Installing a CarPC into my X
Alright guys, after a bit of research and not having the time to actually do this, I finally figured out exactly what I need/want to do this:
Here is what I wanted in the system - keep the original radio - replace the business cd player with a fabricated lcd (slides in and out and tilts) - keep the whole installation hidden, meaning i wanted the wood trim to be all that was viewed when the lcd was closed - be able to use bluetooth via my computer - use the steering wheel for control over the car - be able to tap into the bmw radio via both ibus and aux input The progress: I have purchased the lcd that i need for this and i started making the case for it to fit. I ran across a problem, when i remove the bmw business cd, i saw that i also lose the aux input. is there a way to solve this? I just dont want the cd player, but i still want the upfront aux - if i just unplug the cd player but keep the cables attached, will the aux still show up on the radio? second question i had, i want to mount the carpc in the trunk. i was told that i could use the cd changer adapter back there to convert it into an aux input and a ibus output (to the computer) - has anyone investigated this/done anything with this? if i can figure out these two problems, i think i can progress pretty far, these are the only limitations that i found thus far. I will keep you guys posted. I will post pictures/specs on the computer once its been all hashed out. Any help/advice from you guys would be awesome. |
