Yeah, you can program the key anytime you want for the seats and steering wheel, but I didnt know about the mirrors...Just press the M button when your position is set...And once the key dies, you will have to re-program it...

I believe the car has to be enabled at the dealer first. They program the system which then allows the memory function to work. If the feature is not enabled first then it will not remember your settings, regardless of how you try to progemme the seats. I had the dealer enable this and now the seats, mirrors, A/C etc remembers the settings as described earlier in the thread. As soon as the fob is pressed the seats/mirrors move to the position for that key.

I always thought only dealers could do this, I am not certain about the '04 models on.

My X model is 4.4i 2003 Sport package. What I understand is if one the key#1 (which was not key#2 that locked the car) unlock the car then driver seat and miror will be adjusted to driver with key#1 before she/he inserts the key in the ignition.
Rightnow, does not mater which I inserted in the ignition the driver seat and miror does not adjust until I press Button 1,2 or 3 on left side of the driver seat

Seat/mirror memory when unlocking is a feature that must be activated by a dealer. Once activated your key will then be able to call up your personalized settings.

Did you have the Key Memory programmed at the dealer first?

Help me out. Please show us where that is stated in the manual. Page 49 of the owners manual shows that this procedure is an owner operated programing feature.

Pg 49 simply refers to using the seat memory buttons. Turn to page 50 and you will see it says in the upper-left:

"You can have your vehicle programmed to automatically dial in your own individual adjustment settings for the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel whenever you use your personal remote control to unlock the vehicle."

The wording and exact page number vary from year to year, but the concept is the same.

You know what I'm finding is that different people are having different experiences depending on what year their X is and what was done before they took delivery as well as what was either included at the factory. I have had none of these issues and the only thing I mentioned before I took delivery was no runnung lights and no automatic locks. But that wasn't written down as instructions for delivery. The X just came that way. Thats what happend with everything. I just looked the programming thing up in the manual and followed the instructions. Anyway I hope it gets solved. Have a great day.
