How to: stealth aux install for widescreen nav

I installed my aux cable in a more easily accesible location, in the ash tray. It is very slick looking and easy to get to. It is also hidden in plain sight.
I put a gallery of the images with complete walk through here

Walkthrough

It utilizes the cigarette asher and is right next to your cigarette lighter, so power and sound can run to your phone in the same line without having wires strung all across the car.

Finished install

I used this aux adapter I got on eBay that also came with the 3.5mm cord.

Not bad for $18 shipped.

The ashtray is where they are supposed to be installed factory I believe? Someone can correct me if wrong. Clean install it looks like. Now you get to enjoy your music library on your phone I presume.

Mine is located there... and I HATE it. I am going to relocate it as soon as I can get some time away from working on this house that wants to put me in an early grave. I think I am going to put it in the center console or something... not sure yet, will cross that bridge when I get there.

I put mine there because I always have my charger plugged in for my phone right there anyway. My mount comes right next to the edge of the gauge cluster, so it's a real short, direct run from there to my phone and keeps the wires out of the way.
I use my phone for Waze Nav, Pandora, etc. and like to have it in my line of sight for quick access without taking my eyes off the road. Location works perfect for that.
I don't know if the option comes factory for that, but makes sense if it did. Trade out smoker package for music package. I was looking and this looked like a good and obvious spot for it. Also someththat can be removed if need be without having an odd visible hole somewhere.
I'm planning on upgrading the whole head unit and will likely have to switch the plug to one compatible with it.
