Sold E53 Bought E70

After 13 years and 235,000 miles I finally sold my 2001 X5 4.4 and bought a 2013 X5 3.5. I loved the E53 and it was a great reliable and capable ride but the E70 is better in every way. Better milage, faster, feels lighter, better gas milage, etc.

I hear ya! I spend a good deal of time in my wifes e70 and it's quite the difference. It will never have the soul of the E53 though!

Love your M package and paint color btw! nice work!

Ah great color. How's the interior cabin noise? I have yet to ride in a car as quiet as my e39 530i.

Cabin noise

Overall the X5 is very quiet but I have to admit that at lower speeds those wide run flat tires (OEM Bridgestones) can be heard. It's not bad, but noticeable. At highway speeds they quiet down. Why, I do not know?

Soul? that is a difficult expression to quantify. My E53 was certainly a great machine, but I feel the E70 is at least equal and as I mentioned in almost every way better which was a very high bar to exceed.

Well, you *are* posting about an E70 on an E53 subforum. I wouldn't hope for toooo much love.

I personally find the looks of the 4.6 and 4.8 E53 to be incredible. The larger wheels and tires set the car up just right. It looks like a... Hotwheels car to me.

The 4.4 does nothing for me unless you add the larger wheels.
The E70 does nothing for me. Sorry. It looks very nice, but not super cool.

The 4.6 and 4.8 E53 could possibly go down as classics.

I have both too, the E53 is still my favorite of the two.

Love the M wheels.

Congratulations on your new purchase. I did not find the fuel economy to be any better between my E53 4.4i and my E70 4.8i. Since your new X5 is a six cylinder I suspect that's why you're experiencing better fuel economy.

E53 is a great vehicle. While I currently own an E70 the E53 will always hold a special place in my heart. I especially love the look of the E53 4.8is

Nice color. The E53 served you well.

The only E70 that can replace my E53 4.8iS is the X5M
