Is it possible the motor may freeze up during initial start up after oil service is performed? Should I worry about removal of the heads to make sure everything has proper lube?

Realistically, you can't really clean out the entire oil system without dismantling the whole motor - a mammoth task!

I can only tell you what I would do - change the filter and the oil then try it. Given that you can't currently run the car to warm the old oil first, your new oil is going to be contaminated very fast, so dump it after 30-60 minutes of running time then put fresh oil and a new filter in it again.

Assuming it runs...

Good luck!
