I have an E53 4.8is. I have the above lights come on with teh test susp inactive. These all come on at the same time, usually when i pull away and eccelerate. It doesn't happen all the time though (more often than not). Pic below (ignore the parking brake light - that doesn't come on) ![]() Somebody did read the codes but it didn't show anything. I don't think it was a BMW scanner though. I have heard that means it won't pick up ABD/DSC codes. Is that correct? I could take it a BMW garage but would cost a bit. Is there a scanner worth getting that I could check the codes with? Also, what do you think the problem could be? Thanks for any help. Thanks |

You need to get it properly scanned. More than likely you are experiencing a failing ABS module (on a smaller not could be wheel speed sensor). This is a fairly common issue on the X5s. Do a search and you will have plenty to entertain you. |

This will read the code.
https://www.ecstuning.com/News/Schwa...215/ES2975699/ Really sad that a shop taking in BMWs for diagnostic/repairs can't spend the $200 it takes to read the trifecta codes. Time to find an indy that has the right tools!

Could be transfer case actuator gear. Hear a clicking from under the car? If so, that's most likely it. Recently had this happen to me.

I get the same three lights but after driving for a while. I think mine has to do with my drive shaft.

Hi all
Sorry for the delay in replying. Thanks for your replies. I will have a proper search for these errors. Thanks for letting me know the name. I am going to get into a proper Indy to get the codes read. Hopefully ill be able to fix it myself. I shall let you know the outcome. |

i had this happen to my E39 m5. if your speedo has gone out, then its one of your ABS sensors. For the e39 it was the rear left ABS sensor. Properly diagnose with GT1 or INPA. It will tell you exactly what's wrong. I had a extra working ABS module and put it in and it didn't help. Replaced my ABS sensor and it fixed the issue.

Scan the car - on the earlier models it was almost always ABS sensor or ABS module - however on the later models that has a lot more errors including transfer case, etc -
