Front windshield washer is not working

My front windshield washer has stop working. I checked the the fuse for the front washer in the glove compartment box and it seem to be in good condition. What are the other steps I should take to diagnose the problem?

I should mention when I pull the stalk I hear nothing at all.

The little pumps are known to go bad. It is clipped to the side of the washer fluid tank. One for the front and one for the rear. They have an inlet screen the gets covered in "snot" too. Good time to empty the tank for a cleaning and replace the pump and the inlet screen.

Here's a visual that shows how easy it is to access, change, or check the washer fluid pumps.

If you have headlamp washers...then the pump is slightly separated from the other two that sit side by side:

I think this is the 4 or 5th question on washer pumps this month. Must be something in the air....Moss growing from the heat?

Just had to replace the pump on my wife's X5. Same thing, pull stalk, no noise. If you want to confirm before buying a new pump, connect a DMM and pull the stalk. Should read at least 12 volts. If it doesn't you have a different problem. If it does, it's the pump. Fortunately, they're not very expensive and easy to access.

FYI: keep your OE o-ring(s)

I just replaced my OE headlamp spray washer pump with a FEBI and the o-ring was too fat to fit properly into hose I re-used the o-ring from my OE pump and the pump inserted into hose fitting perfectly. nice and snug again.
