If it is broken then pull the pieces out. Ensure you have bled the pressure off first so the coupling doesn't pop off and break. The fitting should pull straight up, but maybe tight since it has been on for years. The spring clip is actually what holds the pipe on by locking into a groove, when you squeeze it he clip flexes out of the groove allowing the fitting to be removed.

Tried but won't budge. It's the stiff pipe kind and no matter how hard I pull nothing moves.
