Check out Schmiedmann if you haven't already. Even though they ship from Sweden, their prices and shipping are very reasonable considering. I've bought from them before and I've been very pleased.
I know they have complete kits and even though ebay might be cheaper, Schmiedmann gives you quite a few options. When time comes, I'll be buying their Xenon kit for my 540.

Or you can just code your LCM to recognize the HID xenons. A 2001 will have xenon low beams and halogen highbeams.
Lights won't autolevel unless you also retrofit the sensors on the suspension arms and the harness.

It is a 30 minute job per side tops with OEM. First mod I did when we bought the car.
