I'm assuming with factory nav I don't need to cut the cage - the unit sits flush and mounts to the factory points, it just bulges out the bottom side of the dash.

Mine sits flush with the dash, no cutting required if you have the factory Nav. Just make sure you push everything in the back out of the way before inserting the unit. I had the lower edge sticking out also in the beginning but noticed there was a thick rubber hose/strip that I forgot to push aside (up to be more precise).

My GA5166F still working fine. Radio reception is shit but I don't really care about the radio.

I had to use some small pointy wood type screws of a similar length to those provided. They were a little wider too get the biggest you can fit in the stock holes up the upper corners of the hU. The machine screws they provide won't work there is nothing for them to grab on to. The small wood screws will grab the side of the plastic frame. Hope this helps you.
Do you get radio reception? Quote:

Radio reception is actually better than OEM.

My unit sits very tight without the screws, tried going over bumps and hard accelerations without issues...it stayed in place. I've put the screws on anyway just to be safe...I tightened them enough to be able to put the caps back on. I was lucky with this I guess.

I bought the XTRONS PF7239BA Android Based head unit for my E53 and I've never ever had a ounce of trouble since I bought it.
Run Spotify through it on it on a daily basis tethered to my mobile. |

I've been trading emails with Eonon on the fit. They're friendly and responsive - better support than I expected by far (professional curiosity of mine). That said, their answers are pretty much what's in the thread - move cables, careful with screws, stuff something under the back to support the weight. Not bad advice just not a magic bullet.

Has anyone here tried both an Eonon and an Avin? I'm going to need a new HU soon and have used the Avin (liked it), but was interested in some comparison info.
