Hi Guys, I'm expect an Eonon to turn up in the post next week so prior to installation Is there anything I should do in the way of settings or anything else I should do before pulling the battery cable and removing the original HU ? Also with the original HU removed how do you enter the immobiliser code should the need arise - with the BC button on the stalk ?
Cheers
Phil

Hi Philphy,

Here was my procedure before removing my factory Nav unit (in dash) and DVD computer brain (left rear compartment) and Radio module (battery tray):

1. I did not disconnect the battery for my install (others may choose to do so and that's fine).

2. I went into my Nav display to set which items I wanted to have displayed when I press the BC button on the turn signal stalk. More importantly, eliminating what I did NOT want to see. I also reset some parameters, MPG, etc.

3. I never used the immobilizer code so that was no factor for me.

4. I don't know if this matters (I do not have factory DSP), but I set a modest low volume on the volume knob of the factory Nav unit. I have more than adequate volume available to me with the Eonon. I think I've only had it to about #14 on volume and that was plenty for me. Don't ask me what the highest number is but the slider looks like about 30 is max.

Thanks Mike, Looks like my system is fairly similar to yours - DVD in the left rear, BM54 in the battery tray, no DSP- so I will follow your methodology. My only worry would be if the immobiliser gets set off for any reason how to reset it but I guess ( hope ) that's fairly unlikely. Cheers Phil.

$268 USD

Android 5.1 System 7" Car Stereo DVD Player GPS Navigator OBD2 for BMW E53 X5 E | eBay

Unbelievably impressive feature set for the price IMHO.

PS: I sent this list of suggestions to Eonon customer support today.

1. The Radio icon on the home page does not retain the last Band and station preset selection in the image after shutdown and come back to the unit the next day. It is a start all over with radio selection settings on a new day. Not convenient for user.

2. The date format you have on the home screen is: Mon 2017/02/13 The ideal way for US date format would be: Mon 02/13/2017

3. Only Eonon selected Apps can be placed in bottom of screen. Much better if the USER selects any app they want for the bottom of screen.

4. To organize app icons on pages the USER must make a space on the page they select and then move icon into the open space. It would be better if last icon on page user is selecting would move to next page to automatically make room for user selected icon.

Have a look on the play store for other launchers / dashboards. I have tried Car Home Ultra and am currently running Car Dashroid, which I prefer. In my opinion, it can enhance the look and operation compared to the stock Eonon appearance and functionality. It is set to launch on startup, but it doesn't launch 100% of the time, and I need to select the app. The 'full' version is about AU$4.00. The background will toggle over to black at sunset

I am very interested in this. Where do we go to find out how to install these?

Installed the Eonon unit in my wife's E46 today. I replaced the factory navigation. I've only had about 15 minutes behind the wheel, but I streamed Amazon Music from my phone and made a couple phone calls via bluetooth. Everything worked really well including the steering wheel controls.

When I got home, connecting to my WiFi was easy. FM reception is very good. Sound is also very, very good. I am sure I'll find things not to like about it, but for day 1, it's assured me the path to a 6.0 unit from another seller is the way to go. More as I use it!

Look for this Icon on the various menu pages of the Eonon, search for car dashboard and choose any app to try. Click install to get the program onto your Unit. It's a matter of playing around with it then to your liking. If you don't like one, try another. It would pay to delete apps you don't want, as they all use the limited memory.
