Wow - its not only a record but a testament to the OE plugs that they actually lasted 150k+ without major hiccups

It's a testimonial to how far modern engines has come. On my Lotus I needed to change the points and spark plugs every 5,000 miles. The same with my 911SC Porsche.

I won't judge on how bad these look but was surprised at the nice tight gap on the new plugs. As for original, I think they are. I have not changed them since taking over maintenance and I don't think the dealer did either.

Sparks plugs are like the ATF in a BMW truck or car, they are Lifetime.

As long as they held the air in then I think he could have gone for 200K. Just stay away from fast starts and hills. Just wire brush them and reinstall.
Now for the non sarcasm part. Yep, them be used up! Thanks to modern ign systems and fuel monitoring systems you can literally drive until the center falls out of the plugs. (Yes, seen that one too). Up all night, you waited until 5,000? I used to change plugs every 1K-2K as they were only $.50 each, and recheck the gap and dwell on the points, set/recheck timing and off you go. Got real good at seeing .032 spacing on point systems. Took 30 mins including replacing the spark plug tube seals. Those days are gone for good. Anyone still running points needs a lesson on conversion kits results.
