I'm not sure about the e46...nor which amp you're looking for (DSP or non DSP)...but the e38/e39/e53 share the same DSP amps...they just need to be coded to the specific model to accommodate the number of speakers and spatial dynamics of each particular models cabin etc.
What happens if you put the 11 digit BMW part number into the part number search feature at the multiple online part databases like:

Just get the thing repaired, google for "BM54 repair kit". It is the amp.

I found several sites that sell repair parts but mine doesn't look like the BM54 amp in the pictures..

Agreed that you should just send out the amp for repair and move on. |

So I had a chance to check out the bm54 repair, doesn't work for mine. My amp is an Alpine and can't seem to find any info to repair it OR anyone to repair it, not close to my area anyway. So once again I'm looking for one, Alpine 65.12-8 379 376.

Question is if it has gone bad at all. My understanding is that Becker was prone to this failure, apparently Alpine not so much judging from the lack of available info.
I see there are a number of them available on ebay... I would check local scrapyards, maybe there is an X5 to be parted where you would be able to test it on the spot before spending money on it.

You need to properly go ahead and diagnose the system problem before potentially wasting your dollars on another amp. Did you verify that no line signals for the two inoperable speaker were not coming out of the terminal on the amp?
