Does the transfer case detect the front shaft is disconnected and not send power to it? Otherwise, what would prevent the transfer case from trying to send power to the front wheels and nothing happening?

Without pulling any fuses or coding (and the resulting ABS, errors, etc) , it is likely the system 'sees' the lack of traction up front as the indication to send power out back. Without coding though it seems like you'd have the DSC error at least.

Wonder how you would code something like that. Maybe you could make the car think It's a E39 5 series.

I'd like clarification if the set up shows zero errors on the dash- including DSC and how that was done if so. Otherwise, it's kind of a rudimentary 'fix' that simply allows for time to save the money for a proper repair.
