Sport vs Comfort Seats

I just bought a 2005 4.8is with 115k milesto replace my 2002 E39 with 196k miles. I just wanted an SUV.

My X5 has the comfort seats. I'm finding that they don't seem as comfortable as my sport seat that are in my e39. I'm thinking about sourcing some sport X5 seats. Are they the same as the E39? Does anyone else like the sports seat better than the comfort seat?

Thanks!

I find the sport seats much better than the comforts, even on 1100 mile/1 stop runs between D/FW and Spring Hill, FL. The lumbar and thigh support is much better for my 6' 1"/225Lb frame.

I find the comfort seats much better than the sport, The wife also likes the comfort seat and as they say "A Happy Wife means a Happy Life. The kids also like playing with the electric headrest.

I'm personally big fan of BMW sport seats and they are not the same seat as e39. Closer to e46 sport seats.
I see the comfort seats as just regular seats plus electrical headrest.
But then, there is no better or worse. It all comes down to personal preference.

My iS has comfort seats while my M5 has sport seats. I find them about the same as I'm not picky

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
Still searching for a while for a reasonably priced pair of Sport Seats in black Dakota for my X, problem is that most of them that I am finding for the past few years now are in worse shape of leather than I have in my X currently, yes I am good at interior cleaning and restoring of leather but I'd like a set in good shape, and with functioning seat heaters too of course

If this is what you see...you may be just looking at the regular seats that may or may not have the 4-way lumbar option.

The actual "comfort seats"...have the upper articulating back...which is what usually makes them the seat of choice by the majority of BMW owners.

Regular seats (8-way) have 6-ways for the bottom cushion (count the arrows to determine how many "ways" the button controls)...and 2-ways for the upper cushion. (4-way lumbar can be optioned to make it a 12-way seat)
regular 8-way seat

regular 8-way seat w/4-way lumbar option
Sports seats has extended side bolstering & 2-way thigh extension added to the regular 8-way elec seat features (for a total of a 10-way seat)...but the 4-way lumbar can be optioned which can turn them into a 14-way seat:
14-way sport seat
Comfort seats add the 2-way upper articulating back, 2-way {larger} elec headrest, 4-way lumbar, and 8-way regular seat features as standard for a total of 16-ways.

Yes I have the Comfort with eh articulating upper back area as well as the power headrest add four way lumbar, ect. I don't know why it just isn't as comfortable as my e39 sport seat.

Thanks for the input!
