Since 1996 (the debut if SIA III) & continued on with SIA IV (debut 9/99)...the service interval length is based solely on fuel consumption. So since different models & engines have different MPG ratings...the calulation of when the green LED lights extinguish also varies accordingly.

The last display of the cluster reset procedure indicates the distance in liters to the next reset (km for the e46). And OBC TEST 3's 1st screen shows distance in km since last reset. If you want to do the math...one can determine their SI interval by converting the km & liters into miles & gallons.
