I have removed it and put new silicone on both surfaces before i put it back. I know im taking a chance at getting a coolant leak, but if it holds i have saved some money. I dont find it that difficult to remove the intake manifold.

Removed tdc pin and cam blocks. I was going to crank the engine a couple of turns, then realine the timing parts. Then i saw the intake camshaft making some weird moves. Is this normal? The vanoses are empty on oil, is that was causing it?

The Intake Vanos does flip back due to its ability to retard and advance. When you are turning it it should be done manually to make sure you have not interference. Basically turn the engine with a big socket and bar.

Ive posted a video in my last post. It is what i have done rotated the engine by the crankshaft. On every full turn 360 degrees of the crank, the intake camshaft on bank 1 does a little jump/skip. After i rotated the engine a couple of turns, i loosend all the camsprockets again and set the timing with the camblocks, and retarded the vanoses again. I hope i have done this right. The chain tensioner is turned in by hand so much that i dont have any slack att all in the chain. Is that correct?

I havent cranked the engine with the starter motor, i have used a socket and a ratchet? (Those clicky bars you put sockets on), and of course the strenght in my arm😄 sometimes the english get a little messed up, hope it is understandeable 👍

I have repeated the manually turning of the engine several times. Inbetween that i have individually set the non aligning camshaft. Now when the engine comes to tdc, and holding bank 1 intake camshaft retarded to vanos stop, the camblocks slide on/off easily. And yes they seat flush with the heads. I think i got the timing right now 👍😄

Not happening much here. I have tourqed all camsprockets, and the camsensor plates. Before i start reasembling, im going to change the orings and crushers for the oil pipes and bracket behind the alternator housing👍 this is the far dirtiest engine i worked on 🤔

Dont forget the O rings that reside behind the oil line mounting plate that mounts to the engine block. its in the same area where the oil lines from the filter reservoir feed int the engine block. If you do not change this O-ring your leak will persist and drive you nuts after all of your maintenance work.
