Fuse listings anyone? Not in the$100 Bentley book!

Just had the PDC system fixed and noticed shortly after some sensors were replaced, the side mirror didnt tilt when going in reverse. Spoke to my mechanic and he suggested it could be a fuse. No big deal. Then in the same door today I got the check side light message.

Went to the glove box pulled out the manuals. Couldn't find a fuse list like I had in my old six. Went to the Bentley guide which has already proven a waste of money and absolutely no listing of what fuse goes to which electrical area.

Can anyone please tell me where to find a list

Edit. Found one on bimmerfest but it does not list the side light. I will check the mirros and see if that works

Bentley guide has every fuse location listed in ECL section, particularly starting from ECL-18 and on.
You need to take second look before you condemn Bentley manual.
While not perfect, it's a very good book.

Thank you. I will take another look tomorrow. And if I find what I am looking for I will gladly retract my condemnation.

No problem. I don't think there is another version and I believe this what I have in hard cover. I can double check if needed. I got mine on sale about 2 years ago for $75 shipped and it's really worth that money.

Fuse list is on the back of the glove box compartment near the fuse block terminal.

That's only for the ones in the glovebox. As you know there are several other locations and Bentley is a must for those.

The OP didn't mention a model/model year & doesn't have a signature with that info...but the basic fuse locations do have an idex and diagram...the glovebox & rear fuse locations. The high amp fuses aren't, though...and that's where the Bentley comes in handy.

Also, all exterior lighting is under the control of the LCM...there aren't any single/basic fuses that control them. If the CHECK SIDE LIGHT warning is illuminated...the first thing to check are the light bulbs that come on when you would turn the headlight switch to the 1st position (the parking lamps)...one of those bulbs are probably blown. Again, since we have no clue what model year you have...if you have a facelift and have AEs...they are on the side light circuit...so if one of them is blown...the CHECK SIDE LIGHT warning will illuminate. I highly doubt this warning is a fuse issue.

{fuse index & diagram on back of glove box fuse's pull down door}

{fuse index & diagram on rear fuse box on my 2006 X5 4.4}

{fuse locations can be seen in this diagram below of the positive battery cable run}

Thanks Qsilver7 I just printed this up. The card in my glove box was removed at some point so I made another with all the locations.

Thank you all for your replies. Firstly, I did check the Bentley book and the electrical wiring diagrams have fuses but not in the picture thatis listed above like the glovebox photo. They have diagrams that are far too advanced for me to interpret as I am merely and average home mechanic. This car is far more advanced than my e24 was interms of complexity.

That being said, I stand corrected in my condemnation of the Bentley manual which I got on amazon a few weeks back. However, I will state it was not whats expected.

My son is bringing the vehicle to me today and if I see the diagram in the fuse box, which truth be told, I did not bother to look at because I checked the manuals first, then it is I once again with egg on my face! So thank you all for your patience with me.

I will update my signature to include the car which is a 2002 X5 4.4 104k on the odometer and is my sons first car.

As I said ever since I had the PDC fixed which an overly aggressive machine car wash destroyed, these little electrical issues popped up. The passenger door light does not go on whenthenlights are on but when you hit the power locks it does flash. My son also reports that when putting the left hand turn signal on it now blinks very fast for about three seconds before normalizing.

I hope I didn't open up a can of worms with the PDC. It is his first vehicle and I want him safe and sound and thought the PDC would be helpful to him in preventing damage to anyone else's vehicles. It is not preventing any damage to my wallet though! Lol

We will do our investigation of the fuses today and see what turns up.

Thank you again for your help and patience with my inexperience. We love the X5 but sure do miss my e24.

Have you checked to see if you have a burnt out angel eye? When they burn out you get a check side light message.
