Why does one 2005 x5 4.4 sport drive different then another.
I posted something similar a few months ago. I thought it could be the driver adaptive feature. I tried the controversial reset procedures describes here and other website but that did not resolve the issue.
I am very lucky. I happen to have two 2005 4.4 sport. So as fare as I can tell they are mechanically identical, They even have identical wheels and almost the same tires (ties are the same size and brand).
I got these used. I got about 7K miles on one and about 3k on another. I notice on one of them it drives and shift a lot sporty, it is more responsive, shifts more crisps, gas pedal more sensitive. For example on one of them in a dead stop I press the pedal look down and the mpg gauge automatically goes to 8mpg but the other I have to make a little effort to press the pedal more to get it to 8mpg (at it does not quite get there and stay there), but drives smoother. It also seem like one of them them have more power ("pull"). They way I describe it is that one is more powerful, when I step on the gas the rpm goes right to 2000rpm and gas goes right to 8mpg and stay there until it gets scary. The other other when push would go pass 2000rpm but the gas would not quite reach 8mpg and down shift (and it does seem to have the pull).
Now I don't want to think there is something wrong with one of the X5. They both have low mileage (28K and 52K). And I don't have any indication that anything is wrong except for what I have describe here. Truth be told unless you dive it side by side you would would not think there are any difference.
Any suggestion here to try to figure out what is going on.
BTW I don't have an aggressive driving style at all. I am use to driving big SUV and you folks probably would describe me as driving the bimmer like a big SUV truck.
