seatbelts stick on the b pillar bracket. what can i do please?

i have a 2004 3ltr x5.
the seat belts do not retract in the front. i have taken the b pillar covers off, and the top loop on the b pillar seems to stop the smooth action. if i un ravel the belt it retracts fine, but anything past the top loop on the b pillar struggles.
what can i do please.
