Changed Vanos Solenoid ,What difference

Hi , I changed my vanos solenoids and it's really what a difference in low end torque, pulls like a new car,on a stop gun it , wow pulls like a bitch ,good thing I had my motor mounts changed also................it was $900 for all 4 .

Hi, I have been chase around vibration during cold start and found a bunch of little problems like 2 strip bolts on my throttle body, and motor mounts where shot, I changed the spark plugs and coils to and really had little change , then I found this article , Looks like i Finally discovered BMW V8 secret!!! [Archive] - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums and I had the work done ,Ijust got the car back from the shop.The Dynamics of the engine is back like new.

Doing the Vanos on these vehicles is a great move that restores incredible performance that is hard to detect as those Vanos seals deteriorate. I love the way these engines run once they have been returned to top condition. I have to admit the vibration on the engine mounts were killing me and when I changed them all was restored.

No Ricky that was for just the solenoids.The motor mounts where $1100 plus tax, but they let me off for $1800 for both, I still have to do 2 coolant pipes and a thermostate $1100 but then I am all done, BMW gives the car a clean bill of health.
I am driving the car today , WOW what a difference, very strong low end torque and tranny is shifting nice and easy.

Ouch. I sub it out when I don't wanna deal, but the mounts are like a benjamin a piece, and if I recall, it took me 3 hrs even with some head scratching in between.

^Ouch is right, the mounts are $100 apiece a competent indy could do them both in maybe 3 hours tops - but IIRC he's had some bad indys before so he only pays the dealer now -
