YazX5's 06 X5 4.4i Documentary/Journal
Hey guys, long time reader of these forums so I decided to join as I'm always in these ultimate driving machines. Helped me a lot in the past so hopefully i could return the favor in the future. Anyways, this weekend I picked up an X5 4.4i, and after seeing CleanisFast's journal on his 4.6is, I thought I'd start one to document everything and what not from the beginning. So here we go.
Little Background on it: Built in May of 2006 77k miles Sport model Titansilber metallic Dakota schwarz leather Car was originally from Cali, just got to Chicago so very nice body and undercarriage Body looks good, although could use some detailing/paint correction Interior is pristine Now there are a couple of issues that still need to be addressed. 2 axle air suspension is on the ground, shouldn't be too big of a deal After being on for a very long time (15-20 mins) smoke out of the right side exhaust, oddly though, it doesn't smell like oil, more like water? What I'm implying is it probably isn't the valve stems as smoke would be coming from both pipes correct? will probably check out the CCV valves first then we'll diagnose if its really valve stems because I don't want to tear apart the motor for no reason lol. Other than that doesn't seem to be any issues, panoramic title up and down luckily, but for some reason the shade won't close all the way, there's about an inch opening. No biggie, maybe something due to the weak electricity as the battery is shot. After I get it raised gonna do an oil change, spark plugs, air filter, etc. the usual regular maintenance stuff. Then possibly some tweaks such as aluminum running boards, silver interior trim, aluminum pedals, steering wheel trim, nav screen is pixelated, led lights etc. etc. But for now gonna work on the major suspension/engine issues get that all sorted out and go from there. Don't have pics now, will get some up when I get home. In the meantime heres my decoded vin. ======================================== Vehicle information ======================================== VIN: LV27147 Type code: FB53 Model: X5 4.4I (USA) E-F-R series: E53 Series: X Type: All-Road Steering: LL Doors: 5 Engine: N62 Displacement: 4.40 Power: 235 (319 hp) Drive: ALLR Transmission: AUT Paint code: 354 - TITANSILBER METALLIC Upholstery code: LCSW - LEDER DAKOTA/SCH Prod.date: 2006-05-22 S1CA SELECTION COP RELEVANT VEHICLES S2LC BMW LA wheel Y-spoke 183 S4NA Interior mirror with digital compass S8SP Control unit COP S205 Automatic transmission S221 2-axle self-levelling suspension S226 Sports suspension settings S249 Multifunction f steering wheel S255 Sports leather steering wheel S302 Alarm system S321 Exterior parts in vehicle colour P330 Sports package S354 Green windscreen, green shade band S386 Roof railing S402 Panorama glass roof S417 Roller sun visor, rear door S430 Interior/outside mirror with auto dip S438 Fine wood trim S441 Smoker package S442 Drink holder S459 El. front seat adjustment w. memory S461 Electric seat backrest adjustment, rear S464 Ski bag S481 Sports seat S488 Lumbar support, driver and passenger S494 Seat heating driver/passenger S502 Headlight cleaning system S508 Park Distance Control (PDC) S521 Rain sensor S522 Xenon Light S524 Adaptive Headlights S533 Air conditioning, rear S534 Automatic air conditioning S609 Navigation system, Professional S639 Preparation f mobile phone cpl.
