Like the Charging System?
Quickie test
Start car, connect VOM (Volt ohm meter)to the battery's post, set tester to DC VOLTS, bring idle to 1500 rpm- read meter. Over 13v or under?

What he said.

Also, your 'battery light' should be considered more as a 'your generator is not charging as much power as you use-light'.
In short, unless you have some issues with bad power/ground connections, your generator is most likely on it's way out.

Ditto what the others said above. The battery warning light is one of the most misinterpreted warning lights.

According to the owners manual...it illuminates when the battery is the VICTIM...not the CULPRIT.

9 times out of 10... voltage regulator in alternator going out. Plenty of threads on this subject.
