Everyone here has different levels of comfort when dealing with the DMV and vehicle transactions in general... I've been in situations where I've had to inform the DMV how to do something or that they could do something at all.
Better idea AV8R... let's just wait for you to get that nice looking 4.6is in your driveway and skip the advice portion of the show all together as PropellerHead suggested. Then we can all celebrate that happening.

I choose not to do full cooling system overhauls as components have quite different life cycles. For most there are usually warning symptoms or it is easy to inspect periodically. But, I don't drive long distances, have AAA road service and I know the history of my X5.

Yeah I was amazed at how the hoses on these X5 deteriorate compared to my other BMWs especially the ones at the back of the engine. Those hoses were super soft and just coming apart in my hands. The 10+ years in service no matter what the miles are would just be good insurance for a worry free future. To many of these X5s develop the coolant leaks and some people just try to attack one hose at a time which will just drive you crazy. Make the conscious decision to change them all out and that way you will sleep better every night. I'll tell you I cannot stand leaks and drips on my garage floor and these BMWs are notorious for the leaks. Clean sweep maintenance is the best approach. No piecemeal here.
