reset EML check engine light
he installed a new battery and since then no problems. apart from the check engine light EML wont go out. I have had the car checked with a Snap On Solus Pro and also by the auto elec guy. Both say there are no codes present, anywhere on the car, transmission, brakes, suspension, etc. all checked, No Codes Present. The auto elec says BMW make them so you have to go to the dealership to get them reset after certain codes (my guess, "incorrect gear ratio", came up twice, first time it reset. recurrence of the Elec problem and it reappeared). Can only the dealership reset them with some special BMW laptop? How much should they charge for this? I need it for the canadian emissions test for license sticker, else I would ignore it as I have done for the last 3 months. Thanks |

That doesn't make sense, any code that makes the emissions light come on should be readable with a normal OBD scanner, by law even, as far as I know that was the point behind OBD in the first place.

The EML lights up for transmission codes, etc.
I can read codes, I can clear codes, but the EML remains lit with no codes present anywhere. Maybe a BMW tech knows the answer. I've asked my local dealership and I'm waiting for a response. |
