no I didn't but the car does start with a jump so i don't think it has to do with the EWS.

Bad alternator is not going to keep it from starting. Did you verify the battery is charged after you installed the new ignition switch?
Did you jump it at the battery or at the connections under the hood?

Yea i don't think its the alternator either. The voltage with the car running shows above 14V so the alternator appears to be working.
I've been jumping it at the terminals under the hood. The battery is charged. I have it connected to a battery charger since my car has been sitting for a while. Been reading into how to do a proper voltage drop test under load. Makes sense that the culprit may be resistance in the circuit somewhere since jumping it works. I'm trying to find some free online wiring diagrams to help me better understand where to test. |

It sure sounds like your problem is most likely at the connections near the battery or the battery itself. Don't forget to check the grounds and the BST on the battery cable (voltage drop under load) like upallnight suggested. Work forward from there. I agree about the Benley manual, definetly a good investment!

Quick example to check voltage drop across BST... Put neg clamp of test light on battery positive, hold prod of light on end of battery cable anywhere after BST, maybe at distribution box (BTW dist. box could be a source of your problem as well) Have somebody try to start the car, if light glows you found a problem!

Make an appointment with a Dealer or your indy get the car started and drive over to them to have the car scanned. A bad BST cable will not set off a check engine light, but it wall be in the memory of one of the module. You don't want to throw parts at it because a new BST cable is not cheap and it's a lot of work to install it.
