Carry on everyone
The worse part of this is that if you provide the last digits the BMW VIN decoder website will provide the rest.....

Are people just worried about being tracked down? Never bothered me, but I guess I could see how some would be.

Many vehicles now have the full VIN clearly stamped on a metal plate underneath the windscreen....

The access to a VIN does not bother me as the serial numbers are available as open sourced data from any BMW dealership sales/service system. It not like we have Bugattis where the grey market can build one from a jig and end up with some serious $$$$.

Agreed. This has always been my sentiment regarding VINs... plus anyone these days who really wants to find someone/something usually can through various payed internet information sites.

Don't get me wrong. I understand people's trepidation for sure. I don't have facebook, instagram, or any other social media accounts besides forums. So we all have our paranoias.
