Exclamation HELP!!!! DSC LIGHT JUST STARTED STAYING ON CONSTANTLY. WHYY??

Okay so...today on my morning trip to work i did everything i would normally do, only difference i would say is that the roads was icy. Now even through this time i never had any trouble through this, but when i pulled into work car park i slowly drove round and i decided half way that i would go into a row i was just about to pass. So i braked and just slid forward approximately a inch. (Guessing) but i parked and let the car cool down as always and shut her down.

I come out this evening to leave off, and i check the dash and notice the DSC light has stayed illuminated. Now i pressed the button for it several times and it wouldnt go off?! Now it was strange cause i have never had issues like this before. Nothing i felt i did created any such force for the car to not handle.

Anyone know/could tell me what it is! Hoping its maybe just a sensor or something?!

Many thanks

There could be atleast 5 different reasons why the DSC button is illuminating and we could speculate until we get banned from this forum for over posting. The first thing you should do is to scan the X and see what codes it throws at you. Many of us had issues with the DSC and it was fixed in various ways. Let us know what you find.

Read the code to see what fault. My M5 has bad Steering Angle Control Unit when the DSC stay lid.

Several people have already given you the best info on how to fix the X (get the X scanned), but instead of listening to them you just come up with a wheel alignment suggestion. Why???

Scan for codes. My bet is steering angle sensor.

thank you guys, much appreciated. I will be plugging it in at work as we have a diagnostic kit there, hopefully that will be the issue. will keep you guys in the know as to the outcome.

and to the wheel alignment concern, that is because I know my wheels will need balancing and probably aligning. been a little shaky when driving down the motorways. but besides it was just a suggestion that maybe someone could correct me on that part and say that will have nothing to do with it. I have most certainly taken everyone's advice and im very grateful of there help.

so thank you very much guys

How many miles on your truck? If it's high enough and no work has been done to the suspension you may need a refresh. Bad control arms, thrust arms and/or ball joints can cause shaking.

If you have worn suspension components, the wheel alignment shop will not be able to do a correct alignment. They will inform you that you need to have the components replaced and their charges will probably a lot higher than if you did the work yourself or shopped around.

Replacing suspension components normally requires an alignment afterward so you will just have to do another alignment when you replace components.

Best time to do an alignment is when you buy new tires or after a suspension rebuild.
