Behr replacement air conditioning compressor

After finally diagnosing my original A/C compressor being at fault for zero cold air, I ordered a replacement from an online supplier.

Being put off by the colossal price for an OE BMW compressor, I opted to go with a Behr brand unit, which is a manufacturer I've used for other replacement BMW parts without issue, and it was at a fraction of the price of the O.E. unit. Plus it looked identical to the 13 year old original on may car.
Since ordering it (still awaiting delivery) I found out that these units are manufactured in China?

This has me a little worried now. I'd like to think with it being under the Behr/Hella brand that the quality control would be high- but you never know!
Does anyone else here have any experience with the Behr A/C compressors? Any issues to watch out for?

I have a Behr compressor. I bought it from FCP with a lifetime warranty. It has worked well for about 6 months now.

Cool.

My first choice was FCP, great price & lifetime warranty, but when I was putting the order through online, the only overseas shipping option it gave me was UPS.
Speaking from past experiences- as soon as UPS get involved with overseas orders, that's when all the problems start.

Ended up ordering from ECS tuning, cost me a little more, but was able to choose a courier that's not going to cause me a load of issues.

Every major parts manufacturer has got some level of manufacturing in China. Just because its done there should not be cause for alarm. What is more important is the level of engineering and quality control of components that the manufacturer imposes on the china manufacturing operations.

I agree with you on UPS, was almost a guaranteed nightmare. I don't know if it's just with FCP but my last two orders from FCP with UPS went smoothly and arrived with way less "extra charges" . I did complain to UPS, FCP and to whoever would listen and I know I wasn't the only one so maybe things will be better from now on. All things equal I still lean towards shipping by post office as much as I can can though.

I order most of my parts from Pelican and use the USPS (standard shipping rate) that they provide (not UPS). Have done so for years now using this method and to date, every shipment has arrived on my doorstep in under a week - sometimes as little as 5 days!

Well since parts in this side of the world is like getting diamonds from your tap we have to look for alternatives, my compressor just went south and i knew the stealership wouldnt have still i did went there just to confirm, so went to Range Rover and got a nice deal $180 Denso... now the fun part is to install it... why did bmw made it so hard to replace it on a m62TU??? Most parts i use ECS, never used FCP tho..
