Thanks for reply, but I was talking about securing window up in case it drops whilst I am driving and before actually having taken off the door trim to expose the inner workings of door.....those clips are cheap the actual bush costs 7.55euros each though......and of course cheaper stateside BUT 51dollars to ship !

Use a few lengths of painters tape if needed (blue) - should hold it fine if needed -

Just keep the window shut when closing the door for the time being, my one clip was loose for a few years and was fine as long as I didn't slam the door shut with the window unsupported at the top

What timing on this thread. I spaced off and shut my front driver window with it was down. Yup. Window fell straight down. Using the guide on this site, I took it apart and placed it back up as a temp fix. As long as I do not roll it down too much it is fine.

I am avoiding rolling it down at all since I do not want to deal with this in the cold again. I had no idea you could service that many parts on the regulator. I went and bought a new dorman one for about 80.00 or so. Oh well, having a spare owning 3 e53s is not a bad idea.

Ok thanks fella gonna get hold of some, or failing that using masking tape, just to clarify window hasn't dropped yet.....and for sure a major factor causing my current window roll down noise was shutting the damn door strangely enough not with the window fully down.....either way I avoided doing so like the plague until I forgot.....thanks again

Didn't you manage to check if the clips that go into the base of the window were bust or the bush loose that holds these in window? just curious....damn windows i have no choice but to roll em donw, i just cannot get the hang of using the side mirrors alone to reverse, so have to roll down window stick my head out and see where i am going! or else bump and grind
