Talking SO, BEGINNING OF A NEW YEAR, WHAT MODIFUCATIONS OR PLANS HAVE YOU GOT FOR YOUR X?!?!?

LETS ALL HEAR ABOUT YOUR BEAUTIES, WHAT PLANS ARE THINKING OF FOR THIS YEAR?

I'll start with me.

I've got loads planned for this year with her, first off I am wanting to have my wheels either re cut to diamond and then painted on the inner a gloss black, or go full colour change.
Also currently in contact with having her mapped (3.0D) Im wanting more torque and whatever BHP they can pull out of her.
Looking at lowing her down just 30MM for a little more stealth look.
New headlight design, I want the led with the eyebrows. (similar to the new shape looking headlights)
Looking for a full custom build on the pipes and manifold. (want some growling)
Need my windows tinted

so yeah, got a big list this year. hoping to carry out at least a few of these and possibly more ideas come to mind.

I am not as ambitious. I'll be happy with getting my power fold mirrors working (still looking for some non-working units for parts/jigs), my PDC working (need 3 or 4 sensors that I really can't afford). and maybe add rear heated seat for my special needs son who spends a lot of time in the back of the X.

Hoping to get this SES light permanently cleared due to non existent cats and this reoccurring airbag light cleared out. Ordered hubcentric spacing hoping that the shaking will finally stop. Also to find a pair of mufflers/quad tips that will sit well with the X

Also plan on finding an Indy shop when I get down to Texas and have every inch of the X inspected to see what I can do to get another 100k out of her.

Now for the wishlist this year is that I can get the active autowerks tune and change up my interior trim

I have a few plans for my 03 X5 4.6:

- Replace heater valve (already ordered)
- Replace driver's seat memory module (soon)
- Install matte black ECS kidney grilles
- Sand/compound/polish headlights to make them clear again
- Get an alignment
- Remove resonator, get Magnaflow X-pipe welded in
- Put on fresh tint to replace the old bubbled up tint (before summer)
- Replace steering wheel with an M5 steering wheel
- Get a DUDMD tune for more power + to code out secondary air stuff
- Delete secondary air system to save weight
- Paintless dent repair + paint correction

It's a pretty ambitious list but I'm sure I'll get most of those done this year. I shouldn't really have any mechanical issues (knock on wood) since I did a pretty comprehensive engine rebuild last year— timing chain guides, valley pan, CCV/OSV, Vanos, etc. It's possibly the best 213k mile X5 out there.

Yes guys, sounds good. But just to the airbag problem, i had this to. It im the end was the slipring in the steering wheel which was faulty, had that replaced and its not come back since. Maybe have a look at that if you havent already

Guys, stick to them plans and more to come

I need some PDR and some rust removal and paintwork done on the rear lower inner door jambs as its starting to creep and I don't want it going to the outer doors and having to get those painted -

Coolant flush has to be addressed and possibly just doing the parts while I'm in there and getting the water pump swapped out too.

I have all my parts to do all 4 corners of brakes.

And also upgrading my speakers per the popular thread by PropellerHead. Lots of fun in 2017 and my 5th year of ownership.

Does DUDMD do X5s? He's personally worked on mine and said there wasn't much he can do for 'em. I'm interested in a tune but haven't really found anything that didn't look like snake oil (other than unicorn Dinan parts).

It's on his website, but I'll have to do some more research on it. Mainly I just want to remove the secondary air stuff, any performance gains will be minimal.

Gotcha. Keep us posted on how it goes if/when you get to it. Very curious myself.

Unrelated to Danny's project (one hopes), I have found the best/last answer to the question of what mods one has planned:
