Much better. Bolts have to be extremely loose while you test fit

Good day!!

I have to share that I got a complete set of boards, bolts, fender flares and bolt cover slides for about $60 or so from the Pull It Yard (PIY)... I have the next couple days off and had intended to swap them over to my similar Imola Red 4.6is... I'll take pictures and let you know how it goes... Your aftermarket set is amazingly close to stock... A little fine tuning and they would have a superior product... I'll keep my eyes out for another set... I have to get my front bumper frame support and a pass headlight... I missed out on everything I needed the day I picked up the running boards... I had so much already, I decided to go back another day for the stuff I missed... BIG MISTAKE!! All of it was gone when I went back...

Cheers!!!

It's so hard to find running boards up here in NY. Nothing around and flares are also non existent..

Same here around Seattle. I rarely see an e53 in pull it yards and when they do come up the chances of getting desirable parts for a 4.8is is pretty dang small.

That was my primary reason for this experiment - OEM sets are effectively out of reach due to availability and cost so I took the gamble on aftermarket. Even with the fitment issues I'm having (which I'm more and more convinced is my skill rather than the parts) I feel these are a decent option.

Thanks,

So noted. I think these are going to work out, but I'll confirm next weekend when I refit with new bolts.

Anyone know what these clips are called? I need to attach my fender flare to the non-4.8 wheel arch and I'd rather not spend $200 on new plastic for half-a-dozen of these things and a couple holes.

No joke! I pulled all those parts and the guy just glanced thru the pile and picked out the bigger stuff... Alternator, long running boards and fender flares... What I got charged for just the running board set is:

2 fender extensions - $9.12 with $1.50 core = $21.24
2 brackets (medium steel) - $6.53 with $2.00 core = $17.06

Nothing else on the receipt was for the running boards... Total cost: $38.30

Yep!! Send the list!! I'll see what I can find when I'm there!! I gotta go back for the front bumper frame support and right headlight...

Thanks!!!

Cheers!!

Good day!!

That is actually a good question!! I can't find the part number for them in realoem anywhere... Additionally, I need some too! I am going to put this running board set on my 4.6is and I need to make the slots for the extension tabs... I think I will just use some RTV to hold the tab in place... Wrap the two parts with some rubber bands to hold them together tight and put a bead over the tab (where the metal clip is) holding the two securely in place after it dries...

I have to wait till Friday to do the running board swap... I got sidetracked with the 2004 EGS program these past couple days...

I'll post pics and such how I get mine to work... You may figure out a better way before then!!

Cheers!!!
