Unfortunately, no. When premium reached nearly $5/Gallon several years ago, we switched to regular gasoline to save about $15 per fill-up and now I have a feeling we're going to get scolded for doing so. In trying to save a few $$$'s, could we have possibly killed the bank 2 CAT and/or 02 sensors?

Well there it is. I think you are going to end up needing a catalytic.

OK, so I promised not to let this thread die without final resolution so I'm bumping it after about 9 months or so.

After implementing everything on my original plan, including replacing the DISA valve, I decided to take the sledgehammer approach to fix this problem. I was tired of the Service Engine Soon light constantly lit even after clearing the Catalyst error code, so we did it...

Both CATS & all 4 O2 Sensors have been replaced and the F'ing SES light is finally off (for good I hope).

This was a huge job, 10 hours labor at the Indy to install the new CATS which are integrated into the exhaust manifolds with new 02 sensors, gaskets front & rear and new hardware/bolts/washers, etc...

I went with MagnaFlow CATS and Bosch 02 Sensors. Parts & Labor total was about $2,700. It's quite a high price to keep this 15 year-old truck rolling and probably more $$$'s than she's worth, but hey, I needed to get to the bottom of this problem and get her ready for future sale. Call me crazy, go ahead, but She's been in the family for a long time and is in better shape than me! The $tealer quoted me $2,800 for one BMW CAT, two 02 sensors & DISA valve replacement, so I think I did good by replacing both CATS & four 02 sensors with $100 savings vs the $tealer's inflated price.

So, I wanted to provide an update since I found so many dead-ended threads on the infamous SES light on due to Catalyst/02 sensor issues when researching this problem. I hope this helps!
