DSP (SMB) Cable Factory Routing?
Hi All,
I'm elbow deep in the install of an Eonon D5166X to replace the tired Business CD (non working disc reader, numerous bad pixels, poor reception, no aux input option, etc...) in my recently purchased '01 4.4. I'm adding a backup camera, since the unit supports one, and I had what seemed to be a good idea at the time: send the composite video signal to the dash via the installed but unused DSP cable vs. tearing apart the interior. I even went so far as to purchase some nice SMB to RCA pigtails for a clean install. To be clear, my SUV didn't include DSP from the factory, but I verified that there was a gold, female, SMB connector (DSP) under the CD changer not connected to anything. I foolishly assumed there'd be a corresponding connector floating somewhere in the dash, but neither I nor my tone probe can find such a cable. Does anyone know, for a non DSP vehicle, where that unconnected DSP cable in the rear equipment rack terminates? Does it make its way forward like I hope, or will I be removing a bunch of trim and carpet? Thanks!
