Broken coolant line

Oh snap,
On my 2003 X5.
I was digging my way through the labyrinth of hoses to access the ABS
module. I broke the plastic pipe that wraps around the coolant tank.
It is a lot more fragile than I thought it would be.

Oh well, musta been time to replace anyway.

I've broken one. Easy to do. Easy to replace and not that expensive.

Now that we know we won't break another one.

Do yourself a piece of mind favor and replace all the coolant hoses on the 4.6is. Mileage really does not matter they deteriorate considerably over a 10-14 year period. You will be chasing leaks as the time goes on an you can save yourself alot of agony by biting the bullet and changing them all out.

There is no predictable life cycle for hoses. Key is to check them a couple of times a year for hoses that are harder or softer than normal. Also check at the clamps to see if a hose is bulging or clamp is 'bitting' into it. Also check the along the hose to see if there is an area that a hose has been rubbing.

On the other hand, can't fault PM and importance certainly notches up if your X is daily driver to work or you are driving long distances.

Found my tubing, fittings & cutter/deburr tools, unable to find my tubing bender.

Deburred before assembly.

LOL. Assuming your copper was just lying around, doesn't annealed copper get hard over X time.....

OT, I have a bunch of 3/4 I bought for a specific run, have plenty left. On my wiki, is that either that leftover will be hard the next time I use or or I will need to torch the sh1t out of it to anneal it back...

Then again, we're only talking 1/4 line
