AC Electrical Issue

I have a 2003 X5 3.0 and have a problem with electric current to AC Compressor clutch. I hot wired AC clutch and it engages. I checked both fuses for the AC in the glove box and they are good (Double Checked them) The AC compressor is new and the Drier has also been replaced. AC is charged. Not getting any current to the AC Clutch or to the AC Electric fan in front of Radiator. I looked at Bentley Manual and it does not have trouble shooting answer to this problem. Really could use some help from anybody who had this problem and fixed it?

Have the X scanned for a fan fault in the DME. Most likely the aux fan is defective and the DME knows this so it is not turning on the AC.

Here's a thread about the aux fan fault.

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...-suddenly.html

You can check the 50 amp fuse (that right 50 amps) behind the glove box and if that sucker is blown you need to replace the fan.

Cnajw, you can't test the aux fan by jumping it, but with a bit of luck that could very well be your problem.

Thanks again for the info New fan ordered anyway and next stop after that a BMW repair shop. There are only a couple of things left Control Panel, Heater Control Unit and the DME. I do not have a DME reader so do not know what it says. One question after putting all this new equipment on this X5 does the DME faults (if any) need to be removed?
I have worked on Numerous cars that I have restored and have repaired numerous AC units (I am not a professional Mechanic But I do know cars) this BMW is the most complicated yet. I am retired and really can not afford a big AC Bill from BMW here in Tulsa, OK.
I am in the process of restoring a 1974 VW Thing and this X5 is taking a lot of my time away from that project.

If you don't want to go to the dealer or an independent mechanic get a copy of BMW Scanner 1.4 and an old xp desktop or laptop. Software and interface can be bought on Amazon. If you just want to play around look for a carburetted car without any electronic module and a distributor that uses points. That's is why I still have my 2 Lotus to tinker around with.
